Bandula Warnapura Memorial Challenge Trophy-2024 - on Sunday 07th April at MCA. Colonel Henry Steele Olcott Memorial Sports Foundation.
The first test cricket captain of Sri Lanka and the first President and former Patron of the Colonel Henry Steele Olcott Memorial Sports Foundation, the late Mr. Bandula Warnapura will be honored with a cricket April on 7 th April 2024 at 9.30 am at the MCA Grounds. The match is organized by the Colonel Henry Steele Olcott Memorial Sports Foundation (CHSOMSF) and the Mercantile Cricket Association (MCA).
The joint committee appointed to organize this event have been made all the preliminary arrangements to have the opening ceremony at 9.30 am and to commence the Cricket encounter at 10.30am. Whilst the cricket mates of late Mr. Warnapura are being invited to witness the encounter Mrs. Hemali Warnapura, the beloved wife of late Warnapura will be the Chief Guest of the event.
The both teams consists of Bandula s test team mates, South Africa tour mates, Nalanda College cricket players during the Bandula s era. All the players are above 50 years of age & Arjuna Ranatunga, Hemantha Devapriya ,Upul Chandana, Thian Wijesinghe, Susantha Karunarathne , Lal Ranasinghe ,Ajith Ekanayake, Jeevantha Kulathunga, and few other famous cricketers are to be played this tournament.
The events organizers extend an invitation to cricket enthusiasts to come and watch.
